Unitel Direct Gives Unique Direction
Ben and Tom, like many school leavers chose a variety of subjects to study at A and AS levels at college following sucessful GCSE results, but as both already had part-time jobs they were naturally attracted by apprenticeships and opportunities to earn a wage, gain nationally recognised qualifications and valued experience in a real work environment.
ITEC North East have strong working links with Billingham based Unitel Direct, one of the UK’s fastest growing (& independently owned) telecom, broadband and proven internet advertsing companies who have an established track record in training and staff development for new and existing members of staff. After completing successful ITEC interviews and assessments, Ben and Tom’s details were forwarded to Barbara Eia, Operations Manager at Unitel who recognised their potential and offered both positions with the variety and range of duties necessary to complete Level 2 NVQ’s, Ben in Business & Administration and Tom in Sales. Whilst employed with Unitel, Ben (20) and Tom (18) have contributed in many ways assisting colleagues and customers, gaining new skills, experience and the confidence to understand the route they need to follow to meet their new found career goals.
In September Ben will be studying at Northumbria University and Tom at Cleveland College of Art and Design. Ben’s ambition is to become a college tutor and will study Geography and Environmental Science whilst Tom will study Graphic Design and Photography.
Working at Unitel Direct has been an extremely valuable experience allowing Ben and Tom time to identify their career objectives whilst also understanding the demands of employment, all in readiness to embark upon the next stage of their educational experiences.
